To meet Medicare requirements, all back injections (in particular those that are being bulk billed) must have the referral state that a consultation is requested.
Dr Lee will advise as many of the referrers that he can, but we will need to review all these referrals and advise patients of same. For each injection, Dr Lee needs to consult and discuss procedure prior to carrying out injection, however the consultation request needs to be on the referral for us to be able to invoice.
Please make sure all referrals are checked and advise patients accordingly.
Also, any patient who has not had a CT scan of their back in the prior 6 months may need to have this done prior to an injection being performed. Please check with Rads prior to booking as a referral for a CT of the region needing injection may be required prior to injection being performed.
