Billing must reflect what has been requested on the request form.
Whilst we may scan both breasts or both sides of the body e.g. leg, wrist foot etc. for comparison purposes, if a side is requested, then please make sure the billing and study description remains as unilateral unless there is a specific clinical history or Radiologist advises it’s necessary to scan and report on both sides. Notes must be put in patient record if both sides are performed providing info regarding why we’ve done two sides when one side has been requested. We need to make sure that billing and reporting is accurate and abides by Medicare guidelines.
