Unfortunately the fees still aren’t being quoted correctly in accordance to the guidelines set for SI joints, barium swallows, discograms and hystograms that involve a private charge.
Everyone needs to make themselves familiar with these so that there is no confusion and that we don’t have situations arising whereby there is a conflict of information being provided to the patient. In addition, and in particular related to SI joint injections, please make sure that the notes reflect the true scenario – no charge means we’re not billing anything!!! That is not actually what the intention is if a patient for example is over 75 or has had more than 2 prior SI joint injections done with Dr Lee in the past – in this scenario they won’t be charged a private fee BUT THEIR SCAN WILL BE BULK BILLED. Therefore this doesn’t mean that the case type is NO CHARGE – the case type would be BULK BILL and the patient not required to pay for the scan in full.
Below is an information sheet to be printed and kept next to each terminal at front desk (especially on the days when we do backs and ba swallows) and also kept in the phone room to be able to refer to when needed.
