Cardiac CT

Reminder regarding cardiac CT appointments:

• Check with patients if they have been given beta blockers to take for the test by their doctor, or if they regularly take beta blockers
• If not,  patients must come in have their heart rate checked (preferably on MON or THURS) - when DB/ML at Campbell. Tue/Wed is okay as a secondary option - can check with ML via phone at Plumpton. DO NOT tell patient to come on a day when ML nor DB aren't in.
• If a patient isnt able to come in to get their heart rate checked and is going to the GP to get it checked - can you please make sure the patient is given the cardiac letter to give to their doctor re: beta blockers. If an appointment is made via the phone - you may need to fax this to the GP as patients going back to their GP are not saying the right thing and doctors are not giving them the correct meds.
• It is also important that the correct information/preparation for cardiacs is given to the patient. This is even more important when appointments are made over the phone and no physical print out can be given. This includes: no smoking, no caffeine, no rushing etc.
