Helpful Hint - PPW

Today it is time to learn about PPW.

PPW stands for Post Processing Worklist and is used for examinations that have been performed, but are not quite ready for reporting. The most common type of study to be found on PPW is a nuchal translucency. This is because the report cannot be completed until the blood test results have been received. Once the results have been received, and risk calculations performed, the study is marked off PPW as it is finally ready for reporting.

When searching for a study that appears to be missing (i.e. patient had the scan but the report has not been done, and the visit can not be found on the radiologist worklist), always check PPW. More often than not a "missing" study has been placed there by mistake and is actually ready for reporting. If you find a study on PPW that is waiting for a report, check with the tech staff involved to see if it can be sent for reporting.
