In the interest of less disruption and interruption to Radiologists, the current protocol which indicates that calls for Radiologists are to be put through to the concierge person, is still in place. All concierge staff are to take the calls, in particular from the phone room, so that they can address and pass on to Radiologists. Please remember that all referrers are busy and are seeing patients. Therefore, if a referrer is requesting to speak with a Radiologist and the Radiologist is unable to take the call, rather than saying they’re “with a patient” – it’s best to say that the Radiologist is “performing a procedure” and would it be ok if they call the referrer back.
It is also very important that the correct information is recorded including names, phone numbers and what the call is regarding.
