From a respectful and inclusive perspective, staff that speak other languages are requested to be cognisant of doing this in front of other staff members or patients. Nobody likes not knowing what is being said when they are present in a room or the same space as others, and this can lead to people feeling excluded. We request that staff refrain from doing this in front of others.
We are not talking about helping out and assisting from an interpreting perspective, but rather in shared work spaces when others are present that don’t understand what is being said.
