Clerical Training

As always, we endeavour to undertake training wherever possible. This is purely reliant though on staffing and practice commitments and it is impossible to train everyone at the same time; therefore we ask for your patience and kindness to each other whilst this occurs.

Delays may occur for a variety of reasons and things may not move as quickly as you’d like or feel that they should, but there is a lot of thought and planning that goes into training and structuring training so that we can maximise this when we’re able. In addition, it is important to concentrate on your own growth and not compare to someone else. Everyone learns and develops differently and just because someone’s training path has gone in one direction, it doesn’t mean that yours will be the same.

There are a number of factors that go into the planning of training and structuring so that we are staffed at all times to ensure we provide the best care possible. At times as well, even when planned out, training plans have to be abandoned at the last minute due to staffing, or bookings etc. and we need to adjust and be able to continue doing what we need to do.

All our clerical staff are employed to work at any of our locations, as well as any shifts and duties under the Receptionist duties. Each role plays a vital part and is a piece of the puzzle to ensuring a quality service. In particular at Campbell Street, your daily roles may differ or you may be required to perform the same duties concurrently throughout the week. The roster structure is based upon training needs, staff availability and the Practice needs on the day.  Your support in these rostering allocations is paramount to ensuring the smooth running of the Practice.

Resistance or continual comparison with other staff is not only unnecessary but makes it very difficult for the Supervisors to arrange and manage the day.  We do keep preferences for roles and positions in mind and take this into account when allocating, but ultimately our priority is making sure that each area is staffed with the skill set requirements. This also encompasses break times - these are arranged to maximise staff availability as well as patient bookings.  Of course we'd all like to go to lunch at the same time as our friends but unfortunately, this is not the priority of the person in charge of looking after the Practice for the day, of course these Senior staff will do all they can to make the day run pleasantly and efficiently, but please show your support and care and respect when they are making these arrangements and understand that sometimes flexibility is required to make sure that all staff get regular breaks.
