There is often some confusion surrounding PACS and EDI and what they are specifically used for.
PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication System) is used for storing and viewing images. PACS is the generic name for the system, there are however brand names such as Voyager and Intelleviewer. At WIG we use Voyager, so if you hear someone referring to either PACS or Voyager, they are talking about the same thing.
EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) is used for sending reports to referring doctors via Comrad.
PACS/Voyager = Images
EDI = Reports
If a doctor requests access to "downloads" please confirm if they wish to have electronic reports sent via EDI, or if they wish to have access to images via PACS. If they are after both, please inform Jenny and Michelle. If they are just after reports, please inform Jenny. If they are just after images, please inform Michelle.
